When we set out to redesign the Venture, we took feedback from folks that they'd like more usable space in an overall smaller package. To accomplish this, we made the pack a bit narrower, a bit squatter and a bit deeper as compared to the first generation. We upgraded the closure to a more robust Fidlock latching mechanism ensuring you still have the ease of entrance that sets the Venture apart. We then dropped in some clever pattern making tricks to make the bag more functional and user friendly.

We’re expecting imitators.

ETC Straps come standard and give you the option to carry bulkier items like a jacket rolled into its own hood tidily, knee pads or anything else that you can cinch down. They're easy to use and a great addition to give you a little more space when you need to shed a layer.

Waistbelt Buckle Options - all Ventures use a Fidlock closure buckle to open and close the pack. For the waistbelt, there are three options to choose from:

Standard - our standard issue Acetal buckle, simple and easy to use

Fidlock - the upgraded Fidlock buckle uses magnets to provide easy on/off and a strong hold

Cobra - the ultimate buckle upgrade, this all-metal military spec buckle will outlast you (and your children).

Bottle Options:

Bottle Rocket - our classic removable Bottle Rocket, which can hold a small water bottle (22 oz), your favorite canned beverage, or anything else you feel like stowing in there. We do not recommend putting full Large 26oz bottles in the Bottle Rocket, simply because that amount of weight will cause the pack to feel unbalanced and wobbly.

Quickdraw - the upgraded Quickdraw bottle system by Fidlock is a super quick and easy magnetic attachment that can be grabbed and stowed with one hand while riding. Includes 15 oz / 450 mL Fidlock bottle (NOT dishwasher safe).

Note: Whether you choose the standard Bottle Rocket or Quickdraw, an additional Bottle Rocket (sold separately) can always be installed on the other wing.

Due to the construction of the wing, Quickdraw system cannot be retrofitted to existing packs, sorry!

great bag for biking

I have cheaper bags for my kids, but they aren't as well thought out. They don't carry as many things as well, and they get wet and muddy inside.

The fidlock bottle option is amazing for trail use. Other than that I think the best thing I can say about the bag (or anything I buy) is that it does everything I want it to do and I enjoy using it.

Special Edition Venture

I've got a special edition Venture Quickdraw with a Fidlock buckle.
It's literally the best hip pack for me. Nice and slim, doesn't move around on the roughest tracks and I've never lost a bottle from it. Well, except the time riding up the lift at Snoqualmie...

But it stays dry inside no matter how it's raining, looks badass, and so far it's held my stuff even on the biggest days (some creative packing and serious minimizing might be also involved, it isn't actually a Tardis or other dimensional portal).

But yeah, it's made in Bellingham by local people. It's made from the most amazing fabrics and bits and bobs. Sure, it's a lot of beans for a fanny pack.
But your fanny is worth it. And it'll look better framed 'High Above'.

The best bag ever?

Once upon a time, I purchased hip back designed for mountain biking from a competitor as I was unable to spare the money for a high above bag. This bag was flimsy, and within weeks the interior liner separated. The bag sorta still worked so I used it all season, but there were many things wrong with it. Finally, last year, I went for this particular Venture bag, and it is the best thing that ever was strapped to my body. It is hard to even notice it is there. Getting water into my mouth is almost instant and can happen even on a technical ascent. When I ride through the mud, the zipper and moving parts don't break. I can hold a hoodie and my helmet on the top of the bag for warm uphills. It can hold a whole bunch of stuff without feeling bulky, which is a strange power for bag so small. I have all the necessary fix-it stuff and everything I need to ride in there. oh. also my girlfriend is jelous and steals it some times for non-bike activity. So if you are in this situation, you may want to consider that you might want to get 2.

Everything you need, nothing you don’t!

HUGE fan of my Venture hip pack. I did the fidlock bottle option so it can be super minimal or allow me to carry a little spare water for those longer summer rides. I love how low profile the pack is. I don’t even notice it’s there and it hides under my tshirt in the back so other people can’t tell it’s there either! Super durable. Super functional. 8/5 stars!

Waterproof and comfortable

This pack kept all my gear and snacks clean and dry even on the muddiest and rainiest of days. It’s also so comfortable, I often forget I’m wearing it.
